Description:

For this month's outing we will work with the City to add steps to the West Trail. We will have additional project options such as clearing drainage, duff removal, and kiosk and stair cleaning.

Meet at the main Willamette Trailhead parking lot, the paved lot on Willamette Street.

Trip Report

We braved the stromy forecast and met Marlon to add stairs to the West Trail. Our group carried cut 6x6s, rebar, and tools up the West Trail before breaking into small groups. Janet, Pat, and Sandy picked up litter after dropping off their loads. Dave cleared drainage. Marlon and Dan set steps while Jim and I went back for more steps. We added 7 steps to a climbing turn just below treeline enjoying nice weather and the ocassional sun break and sprinkle while we worked. The weathers always nice for trail maintenance.

The delphinium, baby blue eyes, Oregon iris, and biscuitroot were all blooming and there was still even one fawn lily blooming by the trailhead.
