Description:

I changed the departure time since we will not be going to the Summit. I have hiked to Meadow Junction twice and agree with Mike Smith's explanation in his trip description why we should change to Mt. Baldy. If you want a longer hike, there are some options.

Trip Report

Thanks to Mike Smith’s advice from scouting the icy Spencer Butte steps, the 10th annual New Year's hike was changed to Mt. Baldy with three groups kicking off at 8:30 from different trailheads: Amazon Headwaters, 52nd and Willamette, and Fox Hollow. Twenty nine of us eventually met at the top of Baldy to enjoy the sun, the view and wish each other Happy New Year. Red berry clusters on the madrone trees, a decorated tree near the top and hiker's warm hats added color to the first day of 2022.
