Description:

hike begins at East Trail head, Highway 58 to Pleasant Hill, turn LEFT at top of hill (76 gas station on corner) Ridgeway Road. Approximate 1 mile drive to parking lot on left (Lane County Park pass required) This is an easy walk, with lovely meadows We will reach the Pavilion and bathrooms at midpoint. There is one short, shallow stream crossing where you might be comfortable with poles. And be prepared for muddy areas.

Trip Report

It was wet, it was very wet. 2 participants arrived at the eastside trailhead, a third called for assistance in finding it and shortly joined us. We had 3 noshows and we don't know if they decided no sane person would consider hiking in such conditions or if they failed to locate the trailhead. I had scouted the trail 4 days previously, noting considerable mud and erosion which would be worse in rainy conditions, therefore I chose a different route on seeing the rain. We 4 intrepid Obsidian ladies put our faith in raingear and headed for the summit, Spirits were high despite the conditions, remarkable flows of water in places easily avoided, some cover of the trees appreciated, the glorious colors of the moss and lichens noted. It was a brisk trip, great exercise, good company and as you would expect on an Obsidian hike, excellent spirits and nary a word of complaint, even tho it was wet, it was very wet.
