Description:

We will somewhat quietly meander on Arboretum Trails to contemplate the quotes on the benches, the sounds of rushing water, and those we miss at the holiday season. Meet by the Bathrooms across from the Pavilion. Optional: Hiking to the summit.

Trip Report

In our trustworthy rain gear and with one umbrella, we sloshed along on the Arboretum trails surrounded by the sounds of small streams flowing down the slopes. We paused frequently to view the high water of Coast Fork of the Willamette River. Our spirits were not dampened as we contemplated the quotes on the benches and looked for licorice fern growing on the trees. Back at the parking lot, six of us continued on the river trail to the North Trailhead and then around Swing hill. All of us were happy to be on a wet Obsidian hike with friends the day before Christmas.
