NOTE: to sign up to climb Mt Hood with the Obsidians you must have completed a Basic Mountaineering course, (either offered by the Obsidians, or an equivalent course offered by another organization), have sufficient previous experience that the climb leader can judge your skill level for the climb or been recommended as skilled and fit for the intended climb by someone known and trusted by the climb leader.

Trip Report

We started about 12:30 to beat the sun and the crowds, but there were only a handful of other climbing groups. We climbed the Old Chute as as snow was firm and the route was pretty well boot packed. We reached the summit about 7am. After enjoying the clear view and waiting for the Pearly Gates to clear, we set a rope and descended. One of the team took a fall just before the top of the Hogsback and he had no serious injuries, but was not in a good state toward out His great attitude and help from all other climbers did great keeping a bad situation. All climbers were back a the parking lot
