Description:

Please join us on the 10th Annual Turkey Trimming hike! We change the route every year. This is a fairly fast paced hike (not a saunter); after all, the goal is to burn some of the calories we ingested the previous day. We start up a huffy puffy hill on 28th, around the Laurelwood Golf course, on the Ribbon Trail, and back to the Amazon Community Center. Update: we will not drop down to the Laurel Hill area (too much noise from I-5); instead, we will visit a secret native garden. The hike is on low traffic streets and trails.

Trip Report

This year's hike started at Amazon Park, around Laurelwood Golf Course, on the entire Ribbon Trail, and then returning on city streets. Along the way, we stopped at "The Bog" a small native plant garden at the south end of Agate St; check it out if you haven't been there before. When we introduced ourselves, we told the group what our favorite food was the previous day -- 1/3 of the group said "cranberry sauce"! Who would have guessed! Was it this superfood that propelled us at a very fast pace for the entire walk? Stay tuned until next Thanksgiving.
