UDATE>, The fairground gates are close. We can park on 16th and Friendly (west of Ohare Cathollic School. ) First we will walk (about two miles) to the new FFlC Distribution Center at 2345 Broadway for a tour with the director and to deliver our checks. Then we head back to connect again with the Fern Ridge Bike Path /optional to add more miles. If you haven’t already donated, please bring a lightweight check or cash to promote our theme, “Carrying each other by feeding others.” Another option is to donate online, possibly a tribute card for the holiday season. https://foodforlanecounty.org/donate/donate-funds/tribute-card/ The Letter Carrier’s Food Drive is November 19. Trip Report

It was a cold and sunny day for a walk from the Fairgrounds to the Food for Lane County Distribution Center at 2345 W. Broadway for a tour with the director, Tom Mulhern. We learned about the creative ways they engage the community /partner agencies to reduce hunger and create access to food. We heard the stats about food insecurity in our county. After we thanked Tom, we each handed him an envelope with our donation to the Food Bank. Outside in the sun we nibbled on homemade persimmon bread and then walked back on the Fern Ridge Bike Path to our cars. Tip for next year: stop at the Coffee Plant Roaster. Thanks to everyone who made our walk a special way of sharing.
