Description:

We will work on concert with the City and the LDS church volunteers to create and surface tread in Wild Iris Ridge Park.

Meet at the Summit Sky Trailhead near Tiburon Lane. Work party goes from 9-12 am.

Trip Report

In recognition of National Trails Day we partnered with the City, working with Evan and Marlon, and the LDS Church to add a short section of trail to a new bench in Wild Iris Ridge Park. Our group literally broke ground, chopping into the sod and loading it into buckets and wheelbarrows for spreading so as to not create a large pile of earth. We avoided poison oak, hopefully, while we worked. After we cut the tread area we filled it with gravel, loading the wheelbarrows from a dump truck and spreading the gravel. After spreading the gravel, Oliver ran the compactor locking the gravel in place. Our work made the bench much more accessible. Oliver and Nathaniel also distributed bug repellent Buffs and AHS National Trails Day stickers provided by AHS to the volunteers and passersby.
