Description:

MEET AT THE SPRINGFIELD/Gateway TARGET. We will carpool to South Beach, Newport, and meet as a group at the NOAA security kiosk at 4:00PM We will pass through security and board (via gangplank) the vessel as a group. We can park our cars inside the NOAA facility.
Restrooms at Target, Corvallis Safeway, NOAA facility
Face masks aboard RV required.
Depending on how long the tour lasts,1-1.5 hours, we will be driving back at dusk; ETA Springfield 8:00PM

Trip Report

This afternoon tour was given to us by an officer of the ship who turned out to be a man of all trades, doing everything from “driving” the ship to dock to firefighting and to giving medical care to the crew. The ship does, however, have a medical office who is one of the lucky few to have his own cabin. The vessel was set to leave for the Aleutians and then Honolulu.
