Description:

Turn right at the sign for West Summit Trailhead and follow pay fee signs to the main parkiing lot. Look for us a row or two down below the fee box. Depending on weather, I plan to take Trail 7 and 3 to Trail 4 where we will see the first wildflowers – Snowqueen plus a few surprises. Depending on the group, we will either take the longer route on Trail 4 or the shorter one connecting to Trail 6. Either way, it will be uphill on Trail 2 to the Summit at a steady pace. Estimated time is 3 hours so bring snacks. Once we reach the summit, you have the option of going back down on the main trail for a total of 6 miles or continuing on to the north trailhead for a total of 7.4 miles. Trip Report

What a pleasant morning to enjoy Trail 4 and take note of the first wildflower of the season (snowqueen), recent logging, trail brushing by the Scorpions, and several "artificial" smiling faces up in the trees or in the stumps. That prompted a somewhat heated discussion of what is litter. We did not take a vote! We did pick up one plastic container. Our loop on back trails took us 3 1/2 hours.
