Description:

Hike mostly in the shade up to Fox Hollow to Dillard West Trailhead to see the Metzler plaque and then take the connecting trail to Dillard East Trailhead and up to Baldy. There are options if you need a longer or shorter hike. Pace is almost moderate.

Trip Report

With high 90s predicted, our 7:30 am start on the shady trails was pleasant. We detoured to the West Dillard Trailhead to see the "Tex" Matsler" plaque under the kiosk. We even took time to sit on the bench in the shade on top of Mt. Baldy and enjoy the marionberry muffins. Another bench was in the right place for Carla to remove her boot to shake out a rock. Crossing the bridge to Canyon Drive/Martin Street, we met the family members taking flowers for a memorial remembrance for the new bench in honor of their mother. We met the builder of the bench who was pleased to hear our positive comments.
