Description:

Did you know… one of the largest living organisms on the planet is located in Oregon’s Malheur National Forest and is nicknamed “Humongous Fungus”? On a smaller scale, have you thought about all the mushrooms you pass by while you’re out hiking? Bruce Newhouse with Cascade Mycological Society will share information about some common mushrooms found in the Cascades and Coastal Range, fungal ecology, their roles in the forest, and how fungi help trees thrive. Of course, he will also talk about those tasty mushrooms, including chanterelles, boletes, matsutakes, morels and more!
