Description:

This is a strenuous 15 mile hike with lots of sun exposure, but it has a lot to offer in beautiful alpine scenery and abundant wildflowers. We'll be starting the hike from the Park Meadows trailhead. Bring water shoes for the stream crossings and for a swim in the lake. Because of the long drive and hike this is an all day event so please don't expect to get home early. After the hike we'll be stopping for dinner in Sisters.

Trip Report

I came close to canceling this trip due to smoke, however, a last minute change in weather cleared the smoke out of the Three Sisters area. We started our hike on the Park Meadows trailhead, and hiked seven miles through the 2012 Pole Creek burn past Park Meadows to Golden Lake. We continued on another mile to a beautiful tarn above Golden Lake where we had our lunch and a couple of us took a very quick dip in in the very cold pond. From here we traveled cross country through the spectacular wildflower covered meadows below Broken Top Mountain to Snow Creek which we followed out to where it meets the Park Meadows trail. It was a strenuous 15 mile, nine hour, hike through some of Oregon\'s most beautiful scenery.
