Trip Report

This was a gorgeous day to do a fall hike in the Cascades....sunshine and fall colors. I was glad that this was the first time that some hikers had seen Betty Lake. We hiked up the Mt Ray trail and at the junction we took the South Waldo trail towards Waldo Lake. When we reached the lake, we checked out the South Waldo shelter. Then we took a side user trail to take a break by the lake. Sitting by the lake still takes my breath away with the beauty of the clear turquoise colored water. Hikers continued on to Betty Lake trail passing Tiny Lake, Horsefly Lake and Howkum Lake along the way. Lunch was at the \"beach\" along Betty Lake. After lunch, we hiked past lower Betty Lake to Gold Lake trail and back to our cars. Participants were Lyn Meacham, Mary Holbert, Jerome Wells, Rich Anselmo,Cecelia Pizano, Mandy Lund, Lis Sorrell.
