Description:

We'll start at the Maxwell Snow Park and head to either the Mountain View Shelter or the South Shelter then loop back to the parking lot. This trip depends on good weather so it will be cancelled if it's not. A stop at Takoda's Restaurant afterwards is a possibility. If you plan on driving, remember your Snow Park permit. $16 gas fee for riders.

Trip Report

Recent heavy snows and a break in the weather made for a perfect day of snowshoeing. We headed out north from the Maxwell Sno Park towards the North Maxwell Shelter where we started a fire in the wood stove and had our lunch. After lunch we opted for the best views by taking the northern trail to loop back to the parking lot for a total of 5.5 miles. It was a chilly day but the sunshine and hilly terrain helped keep us warm.
