Description:
This is a spectacular loop hike every foot of the way with views of the rock itself, the Crooked River that surrounds it and the high peaks Cascades to the east. The trail climbs steeply to near the top of the rock on the east side, then descends steeply past Monkey Face on the west side and continues around the south end and along the river and north to the trailhead. The temps will be low-50’s with almost no chance of rain. Descending the west side is steep and slippery with gravel for 100’ or so, therefore a walking stick or trekking poles are recommended.
