Rosary Lakes

  • Start date: 08/22/2025

  • Start time: 7:30 AM

Description:

This lovely mountain hike begins at a PCT parking area immediately after Willamette Pass Ski Area. The PCT passes through a beautiful mixed forest with an occasional glimpse of Odell Lake and Diamond Peak. As we approach Lower Rosary Lake the climb increases a bit. Rosary is a gem with Pulpit Rock rising to the west. The trail continues past Middle and Upper Rosary Lakes with a viewpoint a mile beyond the lakes. This will be the turnaround point. Snacks and lunch breaks can happen along the way. Those who are swimmers may certainly enjoy a dip in 1, 2 or all 3 lakes.
130 driving miles equates to $14.30 for drivers. Thank you to those who drive.

Trip Report

August 22nd began with sun, and 50s at the trailhead near Willamette Pass. The 9 hikers enjoyed the beautiful forest, occassional views of Odell Lake and a gentle breeze. The Rosary Lakes reflected the blue sky, full of sparkles and light. We continued past the 3 Rosarys reaching a viewpoint that shows Diamond Peak, Upper, Middle and Lower Rosary Lakes, Odell Lake and Crescent Lake. We returned to Upper Rosary for lunch and swimming (Paul, Randy and Marguerite). With temps now around 80, the amble back to the trail head was leisurely. Woodpeckers and other birds provided entertainment. This was a bluebird day at the pass levels.
