Description:

Let's meet 5:15AM at Fox Hollow trailhead (across the raptor Center) for a brisk hike to the top of a 30 million year old butte and another beautiful sunrise.
Spencer Butte was called Cham-o-tee by the native Kalapuya, meaning rattlesnake.

Trip Report

The promise of a good sunrise hike made waking up at 4 a.m. a little easier. In the warm, humid twilight of Saturday, we had more than a dozen eerie, near-collision encounters with bats emerging from the darkness. The sunrise, in colors of blood orange - tequila cocktail, was beautiful.
