Description:

Join us to welcome back the light on the winter solstice! We will start from the Mt. Pisgah West Trailhead and go up Trail 17 to Trail 3 to Trail 1 to the summit. Sunrise is at 7:44 AM which gives us almost 45 minutes to make our way to the top.

Supplies and Equipment Required: Dress for the weather in layers. Bring snacks, flashlight or headlamp. A Lane county park permit is required, if you don't have one allow time to purchase one with debit/credit card (no cash) at the pay station by the trailhead.

Trip Report

Despite the chance of actually seeing the sunrise being low, our rain gear clad cheerful group set off in the dark for the Mt. Pisgah Summit. A gentle drizzle kept us company to the top where we joined the festive spirit with other seekers of light. We celebrated the solstice with blueberry muffins--a bit of a taste of summer.
