Description:

For National Trails Day we'll be switching our work area to the Ridgeline and Tie Trails again to continue our work brushing the trailsides. Last time we focused on woody brush and this time our work will include cutting back softer stemmed plants like stinging nettle and blackberries. We'll also cut back poison oak encroaching on the trails.

Meet at the Fox Hollow trailhead, the gravel lot on Fox Hollow Road across from the Cascades Raptor Center.

Trip Report

In observance of National Trails Day and after community reports of copious stinging nettles and trailing blackberries we returned to the Ridgeline and Tie trails for this past Saturday\'s outing. Braving thorns, poison oak, stinging barbs, and showers our group of 7 volunteers set out from the Fox Hollow Trailhead to cutback pain inducing vegetation from the sides of the trails. We hiked up to the Junction Meadow and began working our way back down. We practiced our golf swings by swinging weedcutters through the plants along the trailsides. We made sure to spare the rare flowers along the trail and to stop and checkout the Phantom Orchid that\'s almost blooming near the Golden Chinquapin on the Tie Trail. We also enjoyed seeing blooming Tiger Lilies along the Ridgeline. <br />
