Hardesty Viewpoint
-
Start date: 03/15/2026
-
Start time: 8:00 AM
Description:
This is not a hike to the top of Hardesty which has no view. This hike is to Hardesty viewpoint which is between Sawtooth Rock and Hardesty Mountain.
The trail begins at Lost Creek Trailhead and climbs to an open ridge with a large meadow from which nearby Mount June can be seen. At the other end of the meadow is Sawtooth Rock which is an interesting rock formation that we will pass. The trail from Sawtooth Rock to the viewpoint will be quasi-exploratory as I have only been there one time several months ago. The viewpoint will be a nice place for a snack break unless it is pouring rain. We will return the way we came. This well-designed trail is rated moderate for mileage and gain.
We will meet at the LCC east parking lot, close to the E 30th Avenue stop light. We will leave promptly at 8:00. Take Hwy 58 to Dexter, right at Rattlesnake Road for 6.4 miles, left at Eagles Rest Road for 8.8 miles. We park at the Lost Creek Trailhead.
