Description:

I've got 2 campsites reserved at Trumbull Lake CG Sept 2-7 departing Sept 8. Yes, this is over labor Day Weekend but we'll get there before and leave Tues to avoid the traffic. CG is in the Virginia Lakes area @ 10,000' elevation, 6 miles west of Hwy 395 near Mono Lake, north of Lee Vining. Trumbull Lake CG is a 10 hr drive from Eugene.

Hiking: We'd be in the Virginia Lakes area. These would be day hikes, not easy ones, but at least we'd have a home base at the campground & not have to backpack. Tioga Pass entrance is just 18 miles south of camp off Hwy 395. Yosemite Park's main gate is 15 miles west on SR I20 so maybe one day we could enter the park from the east side and do a hike.
