Four in One Cone via Scott Trail
-
Start date: 10/18/2026
-
Start time: 8:00 AM
Description:
This trail starts out near a lodge pole pine area and then enters hemlock as we gain elevation. Later, we cross a couple of lava patches and eventually arrive at a cinder barrens. Four in One Cone is our main destination. This is a series of four volcanic cinder cones. Simply put, cinder cones form when magma explodes out, breaks into fragments, and forms a conical hill. From this elevated point (above 6000 feet), we should be able to get views of Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, and Mt. Washington. We will take a lunch break at the viewpoint if wind and weather permit.
