Trip Report

All members of the climbing party arrived at Diamond Lake campground, Saturday, September 27, and met at the trailhead at 8:00 a.m., Sunday, September 28. We departed 8:15 a.m. and arrived at the base of the summit pinnacle at 12:30 p.m. for lunch just as a party of Mazamas were leaving. The Obsidian Explorer Post 165 Scouts "led the pinnacle", and helped with belays.

It was a clear, quiet day with a good view and a warm rest on top while we signed the Obsidian Summit book. Summit certificates were issued, and each departed at his own pace with a partner to meet at the tree line. Leisurely trip to the parking lot, and everyone on his way home by 4:00 p.m. Genial party of eleven all reached the summit.

Climbers were: Alice, Rea, and Bob Moffitt, Glenn Meares, Norman Barnes, Shawn Reiersgaard, Rich Litchfield, Ted A. Chuman, Thomas & Helene Johnston, and Robert Moffitt, the leader.
