Trip Report

Just under fifty Obsidians and quests enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner November 27 at the Lodge. The groaning board was impressive enough to satisfy the most discriminating.

Though no specific program was planned, President Merle Traudt paid tribute to Bob Medill, and took us back over memory lane by reading the touching and poignant poem Bob had used in the memorial service he conducted at the Annual Meeting in October, only three days before he left us for his "pink cloud". In behalf of the Princesses, Mary Castelloe presented a plaque to be affixed to the projector stand, Bob's last labor of love made for our use.

Informal music by Dorothy Medill and Dorothy Scherer was enjoyed; and Frank and Sue Riemer's guest, Jane Henderson from Orange, California, spoke briefly on some of her thoughtful and interesting experiences from many years as a travel agent.

Lovely arrangements of vegetables, fruits, and seed pods spoke of the bounty of the year for which we were expressing thanks; and Ray Sims had on hand a color slide of the first Thanksgiving celebrated at the lodge. It was a very good celebration. - S. Riemer
