Trip Report

Thirty-four Obsidians and families enjoyed this traditional event. The food was excellent - delicious turkey cooked by Gertrude Oswald and Paula Vehrs and potluck by the diners. Myrtle Smith and Mary Castelloe decorated the tables to make a very pleasant setting, and Ray Sims built the fire and made the coffee. Hazen Bressler read the Thanksgiving Prayer, and also the Christmas Party announcement. Ruth and Cheshire Nichols helped Gertrude carve the turkeys and other kitchen help included Evelyn and Lei McCornack, Elwina Meacham, Duchess Cox and Paula Vehrs. Gertrude Oswald and Ken Horton contributed to the program, and two Charter members present were honored when Ken read the story of the origin of the Obsidians. Chuck Berkey and Ray Sims put the tables away (Merle Traudt had set them up). All this volunteer effort was greatly appreciated.
