Description:

Meet at Target Parking lot, 4575 W. 11th closest to 11th. Map to trailheads provided. Drive to Kentucky Falls trailhead. Hike 4.4 miles to upper and lower falls. Out and back. Drive again 16 miles to Whitaker Creek campground for 3.1 mile Whitaker Creek Siuslaw Ridge trail. Both hikes are listed in William Sullivan’s Oregon Coast book. After hike for those interested hike leader will provide Burrito Lunch and drinks.. Open to 12 hikers.

Trip Report

The day began with 12 hikers meeting at Target parking lot. Temperatures were 63 degrees under cloudy skies. We carpooled to the Kentucky Falls trailhead which took several input stops and road intersections. Hiked the trail out and back. Many wildflowers were in bloom. after returning to our cars everyone decided to have lunch before heading to our second half of our hike. We carpooled to Astta boat landing and Vern set up a buffet burrito bar and banana splits for lunch. After lunch some hikers would return to town as others would continue to our next hike at Whitaker Campground where we hiked Siuslaw Ridge trail. Everyone enjoyed the day
