Description:

For this month's outing we will return to the Amazon Headwaters Trail for some concentrated brushing. We'll be working to cut back Maple so that it grows up and away from the trail. We will be doing this in a short section along one of the bridges. Additional task options will include cutting back blackberries at the trailhead.

Just a heads up that there is poison oak in the area.

Meet at the Fox Hollow Trailhead parking lot, the gravel lot on Fox Hollow across from the Cascades Raptor Center. Work party goes from 5:50-8pm.

Trip Report

This month's outing was a continuation of the previous month's project. We brushed along the Amazon Headwaters Trail. The difference this time is that our project was much more focused, we brushed one side of one bridge. It looked like people had used power tools to cutback the brush mostly vine maple. We cut the branches back further reforming and opening up the trail corridor. Where we could we focused on making pruning cuts trying to encourage upward growth outside the trail corridor. Our work should make long term maintenance of the section easier.
