Amazon Headwaters Raking

Description:

Bring rakes to help rake the trail and the sides of the trail where needed—especially if blocking the flow of water. We will move brush or small limbs/branches away from the sides of the trail. This will be similar to what we did at Hendricks Park on the last trail maintenance outing. Perhaps 2 - 3 hours.
School traffic can be heavy at that time. If you are late, come up the trail to find us. I'll have the sign up sheets for Obsidians and for the City with me.

Trip Report

We raked, removed debris, cleaned bridges and culverts for 2 1/2 hours in the rain. While some of us discussed that it would be impossible to retrieve trash that was way down a slope or under a bridge, Jim Northrop would quickly drop his rake and climb down through thick debris to pick up the treasures (doggie bags and cans). Emmer applesauce coffee cake from Camas Country Mill was the reward for this determined crew! Thanks to Dave Cooper who dropped off the Eugene Parks and Open Space sign up sheet at their office.
