Description:
We have planned an exciting trip to the Columbia gorge for two classic hikes. Clem Ogilby, owner of Best Oregon Tours, is providing a van and chauffeur so we can relax and enjoy the scenery together. We will start at the Hamilton mtn trail and hike to Rodney falls. This is an easy 3/4 mile each way with a mild gradient.
Returning to the van we will take a short break and then cross the road to Beacon Rock. This gorge landmark has an interesting history and dramatic views of the area. The trail climbs 1000 feet in just under a mile. While it is non technical, it winds up the side of a steep cliff with serious exposure in many places. If you are afraid of heights, THIS IS NOT THE HIKE FOR YOU !
A fee ( reduced rate ) of 45 dollars covers gas, parking, bridge tolls, and other incidentals.
After the hike we will cross the Bridge of the God's and stop for refreshments at Bridgeview restaurant before heading home.
This trip is subject to cancellation if the weather is bad.
