Trip Report

We hiked from Washburne Park along the beach to the Hobbit Trail, stopping along the way to look at some tide pools and local geologic features: then, up over the headland to the light house where we had lunch under pleasantly cloudy skies. Here, we saw a Bald Eagle along with the usual assortment of shore birds. After lunch, we hiked the Valley Trail past Beaver Lake, including the China Creek Loop, pausing to enjoy a series of small ponds and and wild iris along the way. Then we took a slightly longer loop on a trail going under HW 101 and a quarter mile south along the beach back to Washburne.
