Trip Report

Today I took nine Obsidians friends on PCT hike to the top of Belknap Crater in Mount Washington wilderness. We also explored Little Belknap Crater (big trouble maker from recent volcanic past)
We started 9:15AM from the parking lot just of the HWY 242, head north along the Pacific Crest Trail 2000. For half of mile we hiked a beautiful pine forest on the edge of recent lava flow. Then we hit the trail on the open lava fields.
After steep hike and lunch on the top of dusty and windy Belknap Crater, we hiked down to see Little Belknap and explore nearby lava tubs.
Whole day we had great view to North and Middle Sisters, Mt. Washington, Black Butte and few more prominent peaks.
It was a great hiking day!
