Description:

We will be driving to Ray Benson snow pack up Hwy 126. The snow park has a warming cabin and restrooms. We will take off from this area via either the x-country ski trail or the main road depending on conditions. How this trip goes depends a lot on conditions. There are great views of the big mountains if clear. It also has rolling terrain which if fun to ski. If you have no x-c ski experience this probably is not the trip for you. If you have questions about your experience please call me.

Trip Report

Wonderful day. 3 of us enjoyed a spring day of xc-skiing. Great views of 3-Fingered Jack and Mt Washington. It was warm enough to sit in the sun for a 40 minute lunch. 6 inches of new snow on a good base made the skiing great. We followed the xc-ski trail out toward Big Lake then broke off the trail to wonder through the trees off trail in direction of Big Lake where lunch was enjoyed. Our return trip once again lead us through trees following some snow mobile tracks until we hooked up with xc-ski trail and headed back to Ray Benson sno park. We were not the only ones the good conditions, 50-75 Boy Scout were digging snow caves and camping out.
