Description:

An easy walk on the Waldo Lake Shore trail for a couple miles going past the South Waldo shelter.  Turning on to the High Divide trail we’ll encounter obstacles in the form of downed trees on the trail. But these logs can also be considered places to sit an enjoy the huckleberries you’ve been picking. Our turn around point will be Bingo Lake , semi-hidden spot a little over a half mile from the Waldo trail.  Restroom at trailhead. ----Given the continuing smoke problems the hike might be cancelled or substituted with something of approximately similar difficulty.  I’ll keep you posted.

Trip Report

An excellent way to escape the smoke at lower elevations. We had blue skies, but we spent a lot of time looking down at the huckleberries. And of course we did more than just look at them. Starting from Shadow Bay it was an easy walk to the South Waldo Shelter. In another half mile we entered the Waldo wilderness and headed up the High Divide Trail. In took a little while to get to Bingo Lake as we crossed downed trees and ate huckleberries. Bingo lake as a nice spot for lunch and more berry picking. Some went for a swim. A very pleasant day at a leisurely pace.
