BLANTON RIDGE TO SO. EUGENE MEADOWS TRAILHEAD

Description:

This hike is in place of the regularly scheduled Tuesday morning hike.

On Sept. 22 in light of the South Eugene Meadows opening, we shall hike 2 miles from the Blanton Ridge Trailhead parking lot to be at the South Eugene Meadows Parking Lot about 9:45. We shall attend the opening, then hike the new trail of 3.8 miles. After that hike, we shall hike the 2 miles back to the Blanton Ridge Trailhead parking lot.

There are 2 ways to get to the trailhead:
1. To get to the trailhead from 29th & Willamette continue south on Willamette. At Willamette/Donald St Intersection bear right on Willamette. Immediately bear right again on to Crest Drive. Follow signs staying on Crest for approximately 1.2 miles to the Junction with Blanton Road. Turn left on Blanton. The trail head is on your left in about ½ mile. Do not turn left on Southpointe Dr.
2. Another way to get to the Blanton trailhead is to go south on Chambers until it ends at Crest Drive. Turn left on to Crest. In about ½ mile turn right on Blanton Road.

Trip Report

We all attended the opening and ribbon-cutting of the South Meadow Trail, after hiking there from Blanton TH. We hiked the new trail, then hiked back to our cars. It was a memorable and celebratory occasion recognized by many other Obsidians, public participants, the leaders of the Eugene Parks Foundation and Eugene Parks and Open Space Dept., as well as the Eugene mayor.
