*****Change Notice*****
Because of all the fallen trees on the Ridgeline and Blanton Ridge Trails we won't be doing our "normal" hike. Instead, for those who would like to participate, will hike in as far as we can on the trail and do a little trail clearing on the way. I just got back today (Saturday 3PM) from hiking up to the high point from the Blanton Heights trailhead. The trail is a mess and there is a lot of smaller debris we can toss out of the way. So let's meet at the trailhead at 9:00AM and do what we can do. Bring a small hand saw or pruning sheers if you'd like. Wear good boots and gloves because the trail is a real mess. We'll only stay out as long as the overall consensus.

Trip Report

With the ice storm that has inundated the area, the Ridgeline Trail System is in poor shape and needs help to restore it for proper hiking. Our hike today ended up being largely a trail clearing event. Eight brave Obsidians showed up with the temperature hovering in the mid-twenties to clear a mile of trail starting at the Blanton Heights trailhead and going East to the top of the ridge. We moved fallen branches off the trail and used hand saws to cut dozens of fallen trees up to 8" in diameter that covered the trail. There were about 6 trees up to 18' in diameter that will require a chainsaw crew to clear. This mile of trail is now in very good shape thanks to our efforts.
