Trip Report

What an absolutely beautiful day! 50 to 75 degrees, fresh leaves, high water flow, excellent company! We arrived at our first stop to hike into Tamolitch (Blue) Pool. The new "bikes only" trail nearby gave us pause to appreciate the trail work involved to make this 2 mile stretch safer for all. The pool was sparkling with water flowing out of the lava and into the pool, providing a pleasant rest stop. We trekked back to the vehicles and drove to the Sahalie Falls parking area. Again, high water flow created a breathtaking backdrop for "tourist" photos. The river was roaring as we ambled down towards Koosah Falls. Onward to Carmen Reservoir and up the other side of the river, providing spectacular views from other angles. Upward we hiked to the fine footbridge across the McKenzie and down the other side. Everyone seemed pleased with the area, fresh air, warm temps and time spent outdoors. What a fabulous crew!
