Brice Creek – out and back

  • Start date: 12/13/2024

  • Start time: 9:00 AM

Description:

Arrive at Amazon Parking lot by 9 AM so we can leave no later than 9:15 AM. We'll begin our hike at Brice Creek Trailhead (#1403) at a "leisurely moderate pace" so we can enjoy our time along this sweet creek trail. The plan is to do an out-and-back and turn around at the southern end of where the Upper Trestle Creek Trail (#1403D) loop meets the Brice Creek Trail, but we can be flexible on the turnaround point. Weather forecast predicts showers later in the day, but be prepared. The trail may be muddy or slippery, so consider bringing trekking poles. - Suggested donation for drivers is $9.

Trip Report

Just like the US Postal Service, five intrepid Obsidians were perfectly dressed and prepared for the weather. We weren't bothered at all by the constant light rain throughout the day. We appreciated the surreal effect of the fog weaving through the branches above us and enjoyed the beautiful pattern the rain droplets made on the creek below. We took a short stop for lunch under the trees at a picnic table in one of the campgrounds and then headed back to our cars. It was a great outing... truly, an afternoon delight!
