Trip Report

Eleven hearty Obsidian's met on a rainy morning to head to the Brice Creek Trailhead for an 8 mile trek along the beautiful green waters of Brice Creek. The group was rewarded with new lush vegetation and the ambiance of old growth on a misty northwest day. Pictures were taken of the rocky waterfalls and Maiden Hair ferns. Evidence of gold mining from the late 1800's could be seen along the way. Current mining claims could be identified by signs posted on trees near the creek. After lunch, part of the group followed a side trail to Lower Trestle Creek Falls. Mike Smith shared that the falls are named after a railroad trestle that spanned the area in the boom years of logging. Rain subsided for most of the hike leaving everyone pleased that they had made the trip.
