Trip Report

Before leaving Eugene we were a little concerned about the early date of this climb, and even more apprehensive when we reached the Fall Creek trailhead near Sparks Lake and found the parking lot covered by a foot of snow. Regardless, we were all in good spirits as we started for our intended campsite at Green Lakes. We had expected to find everything under deep snow, but found plenty of bare ground along the outlet even though the lake was still frozen over.

We started for the mountain at 7 a.m. just as the sun was rising over the ridge and had no clouds and little wind for the day. Reaching the summit and enjoying a great long glissade down were Barbara Michel, Rick Hargreaves, first time rope climbers Naomi Prouse and Bob Emmich, and leader Lee Hatch.
