Trip Report

The weather was supposed to be marginal for the weekend, but the six participants decided to give it a try anyway. We left Eugene at noon on Saturday in clear weather and arrived at our camp above Green Lakes at about 5:30. The sky was clear and the view of the mountains from camp was beautiful. We were fortunate to see several deer along the way. This was not their lucky day as 10/1/94 was the first day of hunting - and we heard some of the artillery! We settled in with dark gray clouds looming in the distance and the wind gusted through the night. But at 5:30 a.m. the wind was blowing but the stars were out when Andy Dungan led the group off to the climb. Andy was the pinch hitter for me as I was under the weather. Judy passed up the climb for a great day in camp. As I understand it, the wind was bad at the point where you rope and belay, but the top was windless and warm, with incredible views. They were back in camp around 11:00 a.m. and we were all back in Eugene by 5:30 p.m. It was a great weekend for Judy Danbo, Andy Dungan, Bill Montgomery, John Pilafian, Matt White and leader Jane Hackett.
