Bus Trips Rally 2017

Description:

The Obsidians Bus Committee invites Obsidian members and guests to join us for the Annual Bus Trips Rally at the Lodge, Sunday, March 5th, 2 – 4 pm. This will be a time to hear trip leaders share details about the trips, ask questions, pick up a copy of the yearly bus trips schedule, and sign up for trips you are interested in. Where will “The Bus” take us this year? Here are a few hints: winter bird watching, Santiam wagon road, food production, National Parks, science & industry museum, an autumn BBQ and Christmas lights. Bus trips provide a great opportunity to spend time with old and new friends while touring the countryside. Refreshments will be served and we will have some great door prizes! The Concessions Committee will have Obsidians merchandise on display, watch for new items.

Trip Report

Despite the rather wet and chilly day we had a very good attendance at the Rally. Including the Bus Committee and representatives from the Concessions Committee there were approximately forty-five of us there. We appreciated the assistance of the Concessions crew; they not only displayed the great Obsidian items available for purchase, but also donated several really nice door prizes. It was a cheerful, fun afternoon at the Lodge. Bus Trip leaders presented the trips they will be leading this year, trip schedules were available and a brief report was given about the recent Birding in the Klamath Basin trip. As always, the Bus Trips Hospitality Committee provided a great array of goodies that were enjoyed by all. Special guests Augie and Char Bergman gave a detailed description of the Southwest National Parks Tour that they will be leading September 10-22. Rider response to this trip is really positive and we are looking forward to this grand adventure. The efforts of all trip leaders are greatly appreciated; we feel we have a good variety of trips planned for 2017. Initial signups for all trips is very encouraging.
