We will take LTD Bus 28 at 9:10 to U of O arriving at 9:19 LTD UO Station Bay (B) east of the Bookstore. The goal for the walk is to find outdoor ornamentation and sculpture symbols before we visit the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at 11:00 or so to see the Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads by sculptor, Al Weiwei. They are on exhibit through June 24. It is the First Friday so Museum is free. Optional lunch at Art Museum. If more convenient to meet at the UO Bus stop, please email: jbjacobsen @comcast.net
If everyone wants to walk, we will depart earlier and skip the bus. I plan to walk back. Visit this link for our campus search. https://library.uoregon.edu/architecture/oregon/sculpture There is a lecture about Weiwei, Friday May 18 at 3:00 at Lillis, Room 112. The mileage is a guess.

Trip Report

Most of us walked or rode the bus to meet on campus for our First Friday walk with free admission to the Art Museum. The wind fence, Dad’s Gate, and Normal Gate 85 were our first stops. Then on to the flying ducks, colophons, zebrafish DNA panels, gargoyles, and Luna. Most intriguing was the Steel Vine (Script of Vine) at the Student Health Center. Last stop before lunch was the Art Museum to see the Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads by sculptor, Al Weiwei. Abundant colorful flowers added to the campus landscape. Thanks to Jorry who satisfied our curiosity with bits of information she downloaded on her phone.
