Canyon Creek Meadows

  • Start date: 06/10/2026

  • Start time: 8:00 AM

Description:

This is one of the prettiest hikes in the Cascades. It offers beautiful meadows and great views in a relatively short hike. Because of the dry conditions, this is the earliest I've ever done this hike. The hike is listed as a moderate, but be warned, there is some scrambling involved to get to the great viewpoint. The mountain goats are optional. Some of us may stop at Takoda's Restaurant after the hike.

Trip Report

Canyon Creek Meadows is always a beautiful hike, and this time was no exception. Due to the lack of snow, I scheduled this trip more than a month earlier than previous years. I'm happy to report the snow is almost gone and there are no mosquitoes. The only problem we had is a good-sized tree had blocked the road three miles from our trailhead; however, our group of 12, with help from Robert Messick's SUV, was able to budge the tree far enough for us to drive by. The views from the summit were great but cold.

The June Bulletin is online now.
