Cape Perpetua
-
Start date: 08/03/2025
-
Start time: 7:30 AM
Description:
Starting at the Cape Perpetua Visitor's Center, we'll drop down .4 mile to the campground, then head up the St. Perpetua Trail switchbacks for 1.5 mile to the Stone Shelter with its expansive view of the coastline. From the Shelter, the trail continues in a rolling fashion, slowly descending 2.5 miles to the swinging bridge and Amanda Statue Grotto. After a rest break at the Grotto, we will continue 1.1 additional miles on the Oregon Coast Trail to cross Highway 1 and take in the ocean views from Yachats Ocean Road (low tide is at 2:30pm), before returning the same 5.5 mile route back to the Visitor's Center. We'll plan for a lunch stop on the return, most likely at the Amanda Statue Grotto. We will average 2mph across the hike to allow for rest, photo and lunch breaks. Some or all folks may want to stop for dinner in Florence before returning back to Eugene.
Suggested donation to drivers is $17.16
