Description:

Park at the Fairgrounds.Meet at the footbridge on south side, close to bike path. Gate F. There are two gates (E & F) south of ofthe events center. F is the smaller one to the west. We will walk at a moderate pace on the Fern Ridge Bike Path to Bailey Hill Road and then north on Bailey Hill to Food for Lane County to donate our cans of food. I’m not sure of mileage but my current plan is for us to walk four miles out and four miles back. After our dropoff at Food for Lane County, I'm not sure how far/long we will continue to walk west on the bike path. There is always a LTD bus #41 to get back to the fairgrounds if we want to do a one way 8 mile hike. Back at the fairgrounds, it is optional to stop at The Holiday Market for snack/lunch.
If your pace is really fast, we can give you some food to carry.

Trip Report

Eight of us met at the Lane County Fairgrounds Gate F/footbridge at 9:00 to start our 3 mile walk on the Fern Ridge Bike Path to Food for Lane County on Bailey Hill Road. The sun and blue sky were a cheerful relief from the ice storm socked in weather. Our packs were loaded with cans and other food items to donate. Tom Rundle’s pack must have been the heaviest since he was at the back of our group. At Food for Lane County, we unloaded our packs and used the bathrooms. Back at the Fairgrounds at 11:00, we ate lunch at the Holiday Market. All agreed we should do it again next year and carry more cans.
