Description:

Meet at Tugman Park, on Hilyard Street between 36th and 37th. We will saunter from Tugman Park making our way gradually uphill through the neighborhoods to 46th and Brae Burn Drive. After several short but steep uphill blocks, we will then hike up a short, steep dirt trail through the woods to the backside of the cemetery on Willamette St. We will skirt the cemetery via a dirt path. We then have several short bursts of very steep up and down hill as we make our way through several connector pathways. After decending 52 steps we will visit the pot bellied pigs as we head toward the cemetery on Crest Drive. We will saunter down a dirt/gravel road behind this cemetery and then make our way back to Tugman Park. If it is wet, part of the route will be muddy and possibly slippery. Restrooms are available at Safeway on 40th.

Trip Report

This was a perfect fall day for a saunter through the neighborhoods via two cemeteries. The leaves were in prime fall colors and the temperature was just right. The pigs came running right on cue, oinking, hoping for treats. Kathy had sliced persimmons which she graciously shared with the humans and the pigs. Parts of this route were new to some of the group and it\'s always enjoyable to discover new pathways. Sandra let it be known that during the month of January, Prince Pucklers has ice cream sundaes on sale, so check it out.
