Trip Report

What has greetings in Chinese brush design, Orientally arranged summer flowers, traditional paper flower trees and branches, jade Chinese candles, Chinese scrolls, fortune cookies, and international slides and guests? The June 16 Obsidian potluck, of course!

The lodge never looked prettier, and showed more evidence of loving decoration, and generosity of time and flowers. And the food matched, with again, many generous hands to bring that about.

Dr. Glenn Gordon's slides and comments gave much insight into China today. Approximately 100 Obsidians enjoyed the evening. International guests included John and June Lawson from Masterton, New Zealand, guests of the Sterling Pattersons; and Dr. and Mrs. Horst Klumpp and their sons, Jens and Till, from Freiburg, West Germany, guests of the Helmut Plants.

If you were there you know it was an outstanding evening. If you were not, lets hope history repeats itself.

Several faithful Obsidians contributed to the success of the program including Mary Castelloe, Evelyn McCornack, Helen Mathiesen, Paula Vehrs, Ewart Baldwin, Sue Riemer and Lois Schreiner, plus the usual kitchen helpers.
