Clear Lake/Wagon Road

  • Start date: 05/23/2026

  • Start time: 8:30 AM

Description:

We'll start out on the historic Santiam Wagon Road trail aka McKenzie River Trail north trailhead and then head to Clear Lake, circle around, before heading back. There isn’t much elevation gain, but participants need to be comfortable with 7.6 miles at a comfortable pace.

Will take a vote to see if participants want to stop briefly at Sahalie Falls on the way back and then Takoda's for refreshments and will arrange carpools accordingly.

Meet: 8:20 am behind McDonalds in Springfield (east of Bob Straub Parkway) to form carpools and depart at 8:30am.

Drivers will need a Northwest Forest Pass, America the Beautiful Pass, or pay $5 at the trailhead.
Suggested carpool/driver donation: $14.50.

Trip Report

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful sunny day complete with peekaboo views of Mount Washington and the deep blue waters of Clear Lake. We weren’t able to stop at Sahali Falls due to the crowded parking area, but there was plenty of room at Takoda’s for refreshments!
