Description:

The Menucha Conference Center in Corbett, OR is our base. We will hike various trails in the Columbia Gorge. The cost per member will be $215 This includes 2 breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, as well as lodging in one of two houses McCall and Beam. The trip will become available for sign-up on Friday, March 10, 7am for members. Non members $220 sign up starting on March 13th. Pre trip meeting will be at lodge on Tuesday April 25th at 6pm where various hikes, car pooling and rooms will be addressed. Check out their web site (www.menucha.org) and also the description of this trip in the February bulletin regarding alternative dietary requests if appropriate. Trip Report

Waterfalls and Wildflowers in the Columbia Gorge
May 2-4, 2023 Leaders: Chris Shuraleff and Jane Hackett

Eighteen Obsidians stayed at the Menucha Retreat and Conference Center which sits on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River in Corbett. We took in a small sample of the 77 waterfalls on the Oregon side; many wildflowers greeted our hikes. The weather gods were in our favor two out of the three days, giving blue skies and sunshine the first two days and liquid sun our last day. The food served was plentiful and very tasty, each of us in our own bed and late night chats were the norm. Some of the various hikes completed, all got which got rave reviews were: Latourell Falls, Angels Rest, Oneonta and Horsetail Falls, Eagle Creek, Tom McCall Preserve and Dog Mountain. All wished the trip was four days instead of three. GREAT group!!!!!! Thank you.
